Your comments about pride and what we think others should think about us made me think of something that I heard a few years ago but don’t remember where:
“You’re not who you think you are and you’re not who others think you are but your are who you think others think you are.”

Theologia habitus est means "theology is a way of life." I heard this phrase once in seminary and frankly, I've never heard it again. When I last googled the phrase the only real hit was an address given by the very same professor from whom I first heard the words. This little known motto is the summa for me.
